A space to find your own north
I work from a close look, without judgment and at the pace that each process needs.
Therapy is not only for when everything hurts, it is also a space to discover and connect with you. @latitude.psy
Who am I?
Hi, I'm Raquel (or Rachel, if it's easier for you 😊). I'm a health psychologist and I accompany people who are looking to feel better, understand themselves and live with more calm and clarity. I work from a cognitive-behavioral and contextual approach, with a gender perspective, and I offer individual and couple therapy in Spanish and English in online format.

I work with people who are very different from each other, and I believe that each story deserves a safe space, without judgment and with respect. I like that in session you can feel free to talk about what really matters to you, without filters or taboos.

Right now I collaborate with Mindplace, a multilingual center that is committed to close and inclusive psychological care. I am also a volunteer at Psychologists Without Borders, where I accompany people in vulnerable situations and participate in community projects. I also teach Organizational Behavior at CEA CAPA.

I have lived abroad for several years, in places like the United States, where I worked as a Spanish teacher and also as a volunteer in a mental health unit. Along the way, I have been trained in topics that matter a lot to me: sexuality, diversity, childhood, ADHD, mindfulness, perinatality, conflict resolution....

My way of working does not seek to make you fit into an idea of “normality”, but to help you reconnect with yourself, understand yourself and feel freer.
I am here to accompany you in that process.

Latitude Psychology
Online Format
I work 100% online, which allows you to access a safe space from wherever you are, with total confidentiality and time flexibility. The sessions are adapted to your pace and needs, without losing the closeness and human connection.
Scientific evidence-based
My work is based on methods and approaches validated by science, mainly from cognitive-behavioral and contextual therapy. That means that what we do in session is backed by studies and clinical experience, with concrete and effective tools to help you feel better.
Cultural Sensitivity
I have lived and worked in different countries, and I know how important it is to feel understood beyond the language. I offer a respectful and open accompaniment that takes into account your context, your history and your way of seeing the world, without prejudices or labels.
Why Latitude Psy?
I chose the name Latitude Psychology because the word “latitude” represents, for me, the idea of space, amplitude and movement. It refers both to the personal journey we make throughout life and to my own life journey: I have lived, studied and worked in different countries and cultures, and that has shaped my way of accompanying. Latitude also implies margin, possibility, respect for difference, and that is exactly what I want to offer: a safe space where each person has a place just as he or she is, with his or her history, rhythm and voice.
The logo reflects that same philosophy: soft, organic lines that evoke connection, care and diversity. I was looking for something visually simple but full of meaning, that transmits calm and closeness, without rigidity or closed structures. It represents me because it connects with my way of doing therapy: human, flexible, based on mutual respect and with a broad, contextual and sensitive look to the particularities of each person.

Latitude Psychology was born with the intention of offering a professional, ethical and accessible psychological accompaniment, which respects who you are and helps you walk towards where you want to be.
Training and experience
My path in psychology began as a teaching assistant at the Complutense University of Madrid, where I accompanied students in the Research Methods course. I prepared cases, developed practical materials and presented them in class. That experience awakened in me a great curiosity for the science behind human behavior.

Soon after, I began to collaborate as a research assistant in a Positive Psychology study with Professor Gonzalo Hervás. It was a very valuable experience: I applied psychological tests in the lab, interacted with the participants and learned firsthand how research in applied psychology works.

In my senior year, I obtained an international exchange scholarship and went to study at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). There I not only broadened my knowledge, but also experienced firsthand what it means to be in another language, another culture and another system. This experience left a deep impression on me and reaffirmed my desire to work with people from different backgrounds, with sensitivity and openness.

Upon my return, I did my undergraduate internship at Fundación Neurón, where I worked with children, adolescents and families from a systemic approach. It was my first contact with clinical intervention, and I understood how complex and courageous the therapeutic process is when accompanying several members of the same family.

Later on, I completed a Master's Degree in General Health Psychology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. During this period, I did my internship at the Center for Applied Psychology (CPA) and at the Lajman Day Hospital, where I worked with people with severe mental disorders. Both experiences helped me to strengthen my therapeutic tools, but above all, to understand the value of unhurried and non-judgmental listening.

Currently, I collaborate with Mindplace, a multilingual center with which I share a diverse, open and committed approach to mental health from a scientific and human perspective. I am also part of Psychologists Without Borders, where I accompany people in vulnerable situations, which allows me to maintain an active link with community psychology and the universal right to a dignified therapeutic space.

I continue to train constantly on topics that I consider essential: sexuality, gender diversity, child development, ADHD, equity and mindfulness. I like to think that every training, every patient, every story that comes in, helps me to be a better therapist and a better person.
Support with an inclusive perspective 🏳️‍🌈
One of the pillars of my approach is to create a safe, open and non-judgmental space, especially for LGTBIQ+ folks. I work from a respectful and informed perspective, integrating gender and affective-sexual diversity in the sessions.
My goal is that you can explore your identity, your relationships and your well-being without barriers or taboos, with total freedom to be yourself. If you have experienced situations of discrimination, doubts about orientation or identity, or simply need a place where you can feel understood, this is your space.

FAQ
It is normal to have questions before starting a therapeutic process. In the FAQ section you can find answers to the most common ones.
Even so, if you still have doubts or need to know anything else, do not hesitate to write me.
I will be happy to answer you personally at: ruq.urbano@gmail.com
How do we start the process?
Very simple: you write to my email, tell me briefly why you are looking for support, your doubts or whatever you need, and your possible schedules. From there, we schedule a first appointment and start building together a safe and adapted space for you. You don't need to have everything clear before writing; the first step is just to open the conversation.
What is the average duration of a therapy?
There is no single answer. It depends a lot on the person, his or her vital moment, the type of difficulty he or she is going through, the tools he or she already has and his or her context. Therapy is not a race with a fixed goal, but rather a process of construction, like building a house that can withstand rain and wind. It is not about being ready in three weeks, but about having a good foundation and feeling protected inside it. The important thing is not to run, but that what we are working on makes sense and is sustained over time.
What is the price of sessions?
To make sure you always receive accurate and up-to-date information tailored to your specific needs, I invite you to send me a message directly. I will gladly share the current pricing and all the relevant details about the service. If at any point the price feels difficult for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out anyway. We can talk about it openly and without any obligation. We can always explore other options that may better fit your circumstances. If you have any doubts or need to evaluate other possibilities, feel free to write to me and we can discuss it without commitment.
Online format. Working worldwide.
Working online allows me to reach more people, no matter what city or country they are in. The comfort of connecting from home, from a safe space, makes the person feel more relaxed and open from the very first moment. In addition, this modality has proven to be just as effective as face-to-face when carried out with professionalism and a bond of trust.
